Grabby Award Nominees Announced, Part Three

The Grabby Awards celebrate excellence in gay porn.  They’re handed out by Grab Magazine, a Chicago based LGBT bi-weekly. This year’s Grabby’s are going to be held May 28, 2011 at the Park West Theatre in Chicago.  Event information can be found at the Grabby’s website.

Praising the Load at Le Chateau

Two weeks ago, I paid a visit to “Le Chateau”, otherwise known as Tim Von Swine‘s pad. Timmy’s one of the most straight-up shooters in porn, both in directing style and personality. He’ll tell you like it is whether good or bad so he may ruffle a couple of feathers here and there. So it’s always loads of fun to drink beer and listen to his experiences and opinions about the industry even while distracted by the NHL playoffs.

Anyway that day, sweet Chastity Lynn did a blowbang for Mike John’s Praise the Load 6. I wasn’t one of the participants. No secret POV scene for me either. Who do I look like? Rog? The only thing I could get out of Chastity was a podcast. I stayed far away once the scene began but was not able to sit because you can never be sure about the furniture at a porn house. I took a couple of pictures of Chastity, but I won’t post any images of the debauchery.

Trailer Porn: Star Trek: TNG : A XXX Parody

You would think as someone who should be paying attention to the porn industry, I wouldn’t have first stumbled across this trailer over on Wil Wheaton’s blog, but it’s true.

I don’t know if I am as die hard a trekkie as perhaps I once was… I grew up on TOS (The Original Series) and liked TNG, but Voyager and Deep Space 9 left me cold, and then I was back for Enterprise (and I think I may have been the only one..) and from the looks of things, I am back for the XXX Parody… Sam Hain once again put Kimberly Kane into a red wig and he set off to remake another favorite sci-fi show.  And the trailer looks great.

Their promo blurb sums things up thusly:

Join Picard (Giles), Riker (Rocco Reed), Crusher (Kimberly Kane), and the rest of the Enterprise crew as they boldly go into the final frontier of adult cinema! While en route to Starbase 112, the Enterprise detects strange electromagnetic readings emanating from a barren M-Class planet. Upon further investigation, it is discovered that the source of energy is in fact a box containing Tasha Yar (India Summer), the long dead former Chief of Security of the ship, in cryosleep. So it has the flavor of Yesterday’s Enterprise with some extra minor characters from the TNG universe thrown in to keep the pairings varied — Dana DeArmond as Ensign Ro and Bobbi Starr as Dr. Leah Brahms; not that I’m complaining!

Also in the cast are April O’Neil as Counselor Troi (who looks fucking awesome in the big curly wig), Tyler Knight as Geordi La Forge, Xander Corvus as Data,  Lee Bang as the Klingon, Lt. Worf and Tim Cannon as the lone red shirt, er, security officer.

Happily, I am unable to make any jokes about the cast’s “enhanced ample nacelles” because our gals are all-natural to boot!

The attention to detail in the trailer is pretty amazing — the bridge looks like the bridge, the music sounds like the music, the costumes look like the costumes, the snozzberries taste like snozzberries!

Coming off his triumph of X-Files “parodies” (which were more homage than parody) Sam Hain seems to have another one teed up for success, and it comes as no surprise that Eddie Powell is along for the ride as his cinematographer.

Gawker’s sci-fi blog, io9, had low-res video interviews with Bobbi Starr and Giles Aston (who, apparently, is a Patrick Stewart impersonator on the convention circuit and doesn’t do any hardcore in the film):
