AEE 2025

AVN’s Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) moved to Virgin Las Vegas after a two-year stint at ResortsWorld. Virgin was somewhat familiar grounds since AEE was at the former Hard Rock Hotel & Casino from 2013-2020. Beyond the familiar layout, the atmosphere and security was more similar to ResortsWorld. Newer talent complained about a strict dress code that was consistent with those of previous years.

AEE was spread across two large rooms while the Adult Novelty Expo and Internext were in separate areas. Vixen and Fleshlight hosted a pop-up store outside of the convention. Brazzers had the largest and most popular booth at the show with lines for Abella Danger, Angela White, Lily Phillips, and Violet Myers waiting for more than an hour.

Congratulations to Anna Claire Clouds for winning Female Performer of the Year at the AVN Awards. I first met Anna while sharing a smoke with Don Juan Demarko at Exxxotica Denver in 2018 and joked about the industry need for three-part stage names. It has been a pleasure to watch her growth over the past years.

Congratulations also to Jeff Vanzetti and Peter Van Aarle for their long overdue inductions into the AVN Hall of Fame. Without them, there would be no database for the obsessive fan that need a name or number to the person they just fapped to. I only knew Peter for a brief time, but he was a mentor and ideal as a historian for the industry. Jeff had the technical know-how to put IAFD together and the temperament to manage a motley group of contributors that followed. I am glad that the selection committee recognised and gave them their flowers.

Exxxotica Denver 2018

Exxotica Denver was a laid back affair this year, partly fueled by the THC-heavy  atmosphere.  Denver is the smallest Exxxotica city in terms of space given the limits of its hotel convention center and also attendance given the relatively smaller surrounding population area. It is also an opportunity to spend time with your favourite porn star or interact with your favourite webcam performer who may become the porn stars of tomorrow.

For example, I gabbed every day with Jill Kassidy, AVN’s Best New Starlet, learning quite a bit about her background and career aspirations. She was humble, somewhat shy, and downright nice. It’s not that I had preconceptions about her before, but it’s always surprising to learn more about a person beyond what you see on screen.

Security has become much tighter in terms of protecting the exhibitors and enforcing a conduct code which was a very much noticeable change which may have been due to the fallouts of the allegations against Ron Jeremy and Exxxotica Dallas debacle.

Some of the enthusiasm around going to a venue with legal marijuana use among the industry people waned, probably since California had also legalised recreational use. The after-parties themselves were mellow affairs, and I think many treated them as pre-gaming to later partying in their hotel rooms.

Speaking of partying. Thanks and shout-out go to Don Juan DeMarko, who seems to do double duty as a critic writer and a publicist/marketer for whoever he meets and like, for introducing me to Ambriel Willow Sphinx and Anna Claire Clouds. I joked that we’ve run out of porn name combinations at one point, hence the need for three-part stage names.
