Tonight on Playboy Radio: Black Throat (1985)

[UPDATE: 24 Apr 2013 – Going to talk about this movie with Christy and Ginger on Radio Sex’s YouPorn (SiriusXM 103) today around 2:40 Eastern. Article originally published on Jan 26, 2012]

We’re on Night Calls tonight, ONE HOUR EARLIER than usual because I am otherwise engaged at our normal time, so listen in at 6:40 pm Eastern / 3:40 pm Pacific.

We’ll be talking about the Dark Brothers’ 1985 movie, Black Throat.  There are two versions in the IAFD, one that lists Traci Lords and one that doesn’t.

The story, such as it is, concerns Roscoe (Tony Martino) and his rubber rat friend Mr. Bob (voiced by Johnny Jump-Up, aka Antonio Passolini) and their quest to find Madame Mambo’s House of Fella-tee-o, with the help of a pimp named Jamal (Jack Baker).

Here’s the first five minutes of the movie, which sets the tone and really underlines the low-rent nature and crazy style of the vid.

Two scenes in the movie are absolutely top notch — one stars Erica Boyer in a blistering B/B/G and the other is Christy Canyon and Peter North.  They’re worth the price of admission alone.  In a review I wrote back in the 90s, I said:

Erica Boyer is looking her punkish best. She’s well toned, bush is a little trimmed back, and she’s laying on a couch covered in black garbage bag plastic in a room that is walled in with the same plastic.

She masturbates slowly, playing with her pussy and asshole, working a finger or two into each now and then. Then Steve Powers shows up and she starts chomping his choad. He shoves her sunglasses into her snatch and starts pouting champange all over her.

Enter Marc Wallice who covers her in corn oil (I don’t think sunflower oil was all the rage until the later 80s/early 90s :-) )

She gets flipped onto her stomach and Marc then works some fingers into her ass, and follows that with his banana dick. He fucks her ass with reckless abandon. Then Steve Powers enters her pussy (as some creme oozes from her ass). She is toally slicked up from shoulders to toes. Marc spanks her. “My asshole wants you!” she screams to Marc who obliges for a DP. What makes this DP something to see is both guys are pretty active, and she rides it out like a true slut; unlike most DPs in recent memories where one guy sits still while the other guy does all the work.  Erica gets into this scene very much, screaming and yelling in rapturous delight, which we share in. Marc cums on her ass, and Steve cums on himself more or less.

If you don’t pop a chubby watching this scene, then check your pulse, you may be dead.

And then a sentence that really sums up the Dark Brothers’ aesthetic:

Mr. Bob talks to Erica’s asshole which quacks like a duck and they continue their quest for Madame Mambo.

About the Christy Canyon scene, I wrote:

In this scene, [Christy] dominates Peter North, who is chained to a table wearing a collar like they put on dogs to keep them from biting at their wounds. She is wearing studded gloves and a bustier number. Her eye makeup is 80s “punk” and she sucks cock like no one else.

She teases Peter, hitting him about the face and head with her tits (when they were quite a bit firmer, but just as ripe). “What, you afraid of big tits! Suck ’em! You’re such a baby!” she yells at Peter. “Probably reminds you of when you were a little boy — sucking on mommmy’s tits, before you went to your room…” She removes the collar and really starts to beat him up with those wonderful breasts.

She plays with her cat o’ nine tails rubbing them over her tits and her pussy. Then there is an abrupt cut (was something snipped here?) and she’s riding him reverse cowgirl; arguably looking better than she ever has before.  She engages in some dirty talk. She takes an active role and grunts and groans. They move into the patented Peter North Spoon, giving us a great view of Christy’s meaty lips wrapping around Peter’s peter.

They go around to a doggie position for a while, and then to a missionary where Peter launches a load that hits her in the forehead, then covers her tits and belly with his jizz. And then she goes in and orally cleans him up afterwards.

If you haven’t got a boner by this point, turn the movie off, there’s no hope.

Like all 80s Dark Brothers’ flicks, the theme song (also contributed by Johnny Jump-Up / Passolini) is top notch and one that I can still sing it today.  It name checks their recent movies before leading into its chorus: “Now you know New Wave Hookers, and Let Me Tell Ya Bout White Chicks, but now you’ll see some black chicks, sucking on some white dicks! BLACK THROAT!”

Tonight on Playboy Radio: Deep Inside Vanessa Del Rio (1986)

Tonight around 7:45 pm Eastern Time (4:45 pm Pacific) on Playboy Radio’s Night Calls with Debi Diamond and Nicki Hunter (Nicki was out), we talked some more about The Dark Brothers and Greg‘s 1986 movie, Deep Inside Vanessa Del Rio.

We started off talking about awards season and how we’ve been entering a bunch of awards data behind the scenes and we’re getting ready to unleash the data onto the world.  It’ll happen sometime in February, I reckon… but that data is what currently feeds the awards blog postings, so you’re getting the fruits of our labors a little bit anyway.

Then we spoke about the movie.  The movie is a pretty funny send-up of biography documentaries, and the invented backstory of Vanessa’s life is pretty funny courtesy of a script by Antonio Passolini (writing as Johnny Jump-Up).  In a nutshell, Vanessa was born to a black mother (in case you were worried about Dark’s racial sensitivity, she’s played by a man in blackface) in communist Russia.  She escaped by fucking Marc Wallice and Lois Ayres and ended up in Paris, where she learned the ways of the crotch from Erica Boyer (who let her watch her get double teamed by Tom Byron and Marc Wallice — great scene; Erica ends up slick with sweat at the end of it).  From there, Vanessa becomes a door-to-door dildo saleswoman, and she plies her wares to housewife Liz Randall, and they have a pretty great toy-laden lezfest.  (It doesn’t hurt that Liz looks like a cute-as-a-button mid-80s Jenna Fischer.)  Vanessa’s journey takes her to Paraguay, where she starts to work her way into adult films, having sex with underrated scrumpet Krista Lane and Francois Papillion, eventually culminating in a gangbang with Marc WallicePeter NorthSteve PowersTom Byron and Troy Tannier.

The whole movie is infused with a goofy, bad taste take on things; so if that sounds like it’s for you — you should check this out as its available from all of the leading VOD retailers, as well as on DVD.

But perhaps the  greatest thing about the movie is its theme song (also by Johnny Jump-Up).  There’s a crummy dub of it over on YouTube, but it’s the best we got right now. . .

(Can we start a letter writing campaign to VCA — or whomever owns VCA now — to release the theme songs to the mid-80s Dark Brothers movies on iTunes?)

Tonight on Playboy Radio: New Wave Hookers (1985)

Tonight on Playboy Radio, we talked about New Wave Hookers, Greg Dark’s not-first film (I thought it was his first, it wasn’t; it was probably his second or third; “Let Me Tell Ya Bout White Chicks” came first…)

New Wave Hookers was a milestone of its time – called Hustler’s Film of the Year for 1985 — because it featured hot starlet of the day Traci Lords on the cover (Ginger Lynn is pictured on the DVD cover) and Ginger Lynn had a DP in it. Up until this point, girls as hot at Ginger didn’t do things like DPs, that was left to a, er, skankier class of performer; but Ginger came in and said “Hot girls can get dirty too!” and went on to change the industry forever. There was a rawness to this movie which wasn’t seen elsewhere at the time and that helped it to stand apart.

But, since this movie was made pre-1987 (i.e while Traci was underage) all copies of it had to be recalled and pulled from retailer’s shelves at great cost — both financial and criminal — and the movie was re-cut and re-released, the changes being a re-edit of the opening credits to excise Traci from the parade of New Wave Hookers and a total elimination of her one scene in the movie.

However, since the movie is largely a series of disconnected scenes, cutting her out of the movie was no great feat, unlike the poor folks behind Talk Dirty to Me 3 who had to reshoot LARGE parts of the story with Lisa De Leeuw taking Traci’s part.

The basic story behind the movie is two guys Jamie Gillis and Jack Baker lamenting the fact that they have no girls and that pimps must get a ton of pussy. They fall asleep in front of the TV and wake (?) to find themselves as pimps who will program their ho’s to fuck to the sound of New Wave music. Oddly, Jamie Gillis’ pimp has an offensive Japanese accent throughout.

The production values are minimal. Filing cabinets are made out of cardboard. The rest is pretty bizarre. Steve Powers, a Dark Bros. favorite, plays the office dog, complete with collar and toys to play with. (Not that this stops him from helping his master fuck Desiree Lane when she shows up to join the stable of New Wave Hookers.)

The standout scene is Ginger Lynn‘s pairing with Steve Powers (now graduated to nerd from dog) and Tom Byron (just a nerd). They call for a New Wave Hooker to come service them, and this is where Ms. Lynn performs the aforementioned DP. The whole scene is great and worth renting the movie for.

The rest of the pairings are good, in an odd way. Kristara Barrington controls the second half of the film, fucking Jamie, Jack and Steve Powers.

The film ends with the girls on a merry-go-round; Kristara is with Jamie and Steve Powers; Desiree Lane is back with Steve Drake and go at it; and Gina Carrera and Greg Rome go for a ride as well.

The movie ends with Jack and Jamie waking up and Jamie heading home. On the street, he sees Kristara who acts as if she knows him… so was it all a dream or not?

The last thing about the film that sticks with me to this day via my iPod is the theme song. The Plugz (AllMusic listing) were a Southern California Latino punk band led by Tito Larriva, and their song Electrify Me was tapped to be the theme to most of the movies in the New Wave Hookers series. It’s appeared on “Ranking & Skanking – The Best of Punky Reggae” compilation which is where I finally found it since their original albums are long out of print. According to YouTube, the version used in the movie is quite a bit faster than the version that appears on the Rhino compilation CD and the video below (which features the original cover art)… but it might be a tape speed issue…

FUN TRIVIA: Tito Larriva appeared as Hammy in the original production of The Pee Wee Herman Show — the tape of original show Paul Reubens did at the Roxy that eventually became his TV show…

Tonight on Playboy Radio: Devil in Miss Jones 3 (1986)

The AVN Award Nominations are due out tomorrow, so in honor of that, I thought we’d take a look at the movie which won the Best Film award 25 years ago, The Devil in Miss Jones 3, directed by Gregory Dark.  This movie is paired with DMJ4.  They were shot at the same time, but packaged as two separate title, killing two birds with one production — two tapes allowed for maximum revenue generation and it also avoided having to cut the movie so it would comfortably fit on one VHS tape.  (VHS tapes can hold 140 minutes, and the two halves of the movie add up to… 140 minutes; so there’s no room for leaders, phone sex ads, trailers, etc.)

There is so much to say about this movie, and I fear my busy schedule will not allow me to do it justice in the blog… and there are a few excellent reviews of the movie elsewhere that I really agree with, so it seems silly for me to re-hash their excellent work.

DMJ3 has little to nothing to do with the Damiano’s 1973 original or Pachard’s 1982 sequel (review).  It *does* concern a female protagonist named Justine Jones (Lois Ayres) who ends up in hell, but the similarities end there.  It’s a retelling of Dante’s Inferno with Jack Baker acting as Virgil, her guide through hell.

The plot is simple enough – Justine breaks up with her boyfriend Tom Byron (who is too busy shaving Jennifer Noxt‘s pubes) and goes out looking for love.  On her way to a singles bar, she runs into a pimp (Jack Baker) who wants her to work for him…

So she goes inside and meets Paul Thomas and they go back and fuck.  He’s taking her from behind and gives one final thrust before he cums (awesome slo-mo leading up to this) when the force of the thrust sends her into the wall where she cracks her head on the headboard and dies, ending up in hell.  It’s there that she meets Negro (also Jack Baker) her guide to hell… the only way out is through, so she is taken through a variety of rooms where the damned are forced to live out all eternity performing acts of perversion.

They start in the “Voyeur” room where people are forced to watch others have sex.  Justine runs into her college rooomate there (Kari Foxx, in a nonsex role) wearing a wedding dress, and they watch Careena Collins and Marc Wallice go at it, followed by Amber LynnMarc Wallice and Peter North.  Amber, as the announcer tells us, is doing the “Dance of the Double Dong” and she gets both guys in her baby hopper.

On their way to the next room, Ms. Jones gets shanghai’d by the Slutmen (Troy Tannier and Peter North) who double-team her, dropping a huge load on her face right before Negro rescues her from a life in hell — “If I wasn’t here, you’d have been fucked eternally, drowned in cum, and your pussy would have worn out, BITCH!” To which she replies, “I don’t know what came over me!  Even tho it started to hurt, it started to FEEL GOOD!” and as he drags her out towards the next room, someone catches his eye…

Another old friend of Justine’s, played by Vanessa del Rio, is getting gangbanged in the center of the room.  They trade some dialogue about how Justine’s not dead and how Vanessa felt that way when she first got there…

The gangbang is pretty raw, and in 1985, a pretty rare thing to see on the screen.

The movie ends there, forcing you to wait for DMJ 4 which was released a few months later.  When the film was released on DVD, it was packaged on a single disc with its sibling, so you can buy one DVD and get both movies.

Fun trivia: The Gleaming Spires (who had a minor radio — but massive soundtrack – hit “Are Ready for the Sex Girls”) provided the theme for the titles, A Christian Girl’s Problems.  This is the second time Greg Dark tapped the LA new wave scene for a theme song, having hit up The Plugz for “Electrify Me” which was the theme for most of the New Wave Hookers series.

I’ll leave you with the non-DMJ-themed music video  for “A Christian Girl’s Problem” by The Gleaming Spires:
